After years of shockingly low brow programming, MTV has decided to revive its “Art Breaks” video series. It originally aired in 1985 and featured artists like Spike Jonze, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol, and the new generation of artists are internationally acclaimed contemporary talents that deserve to share the spotlight with Nicki Minaj and Justin Beiber.
Open mouths, crocheted shorts and six species of African butterflies flutter around Edun’s spring 2012 video lookbook. It’s beautiful, playful and simplistic with a great soundtrack you won’t be able to get out of your head.
Erik officially landed on our radar with his spring 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week. The procession of asymmetrical jersey dresses and draped jackets got it right. His pieces are fresh, flattering and street ready. He invigorated neutral fabrics with sharp tailoring and balanced the collection with abstract prints that he’s been working with since 2010. “I don’t change what I do every season,” Hart says. “I don’t follow trends or try a new look. We know you’ve missed us, and them. Here’s more Shore, Seriously for your reading pleasure. Last year Mish covered the finale so now I’m going to hit you with the premiere.
Can you believe Jersey Shore is still on the air? Can you believe that Mish & I signed up for another season of recaps? We’re not quitters, friends. As long as our favourite guidos and guidettes are getting sloppy on film, we’ll be here to cover the ins and outs. In and Out count for 2012: two, FYI.
I write for Hearty Magazine.
I've also written for Chatelaine, Vice, AsiaLife and the Phnom Penh Post.
